Gua sha is a traditional East Asian bodywork technique. Dr. Jonathan M. Fields, DAOM, uses a smooth, rounded tool and light oil, moving in short, steady strokes over areas of muscle tension such as the neck, shoulders and upper back.
What it may help with
Many people use gua sha for tight or sore muscles, stiffness after exercise, and tension from long hours at a desk or behind the wheel. It may help you feel looser and move more comfortably. Results vary from person to person.
What to expect
Pressure is adjusted to your comfort. Temporary redness or light marks on the skin are common and usually fade within a few days. Let us know if you take blood thinners or have a skin condition in the area, so we can plan safely.
Part of a bigger plan
Gua sha is often paired with cupping, acupuncture or dry needling during the same visit. Not sure what fits? Start with a free consultation at 811 North Coral Ridge Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071.
